Subject: MS TCP/IP and Adress Resolution Protocol
If there any way to prevent MS TCP/IP from sending an ARP before
sending out a packet. We are running TCP/IP over wireless network
that does not use ARP. We think that the base machine sends an ARP
before sending the packet. Our solution was to send packets as
broadcasts with seems to supress the ARP from being sent. We would
like to find a better solution.
Thanks in advance.

I don't see why you want to read news offline. It only limits your
options. I like the approach of WinVN, just the implementation
needs some work and steady progress is being made, so I have no
complaints, only gratitude.

Yes, the URL is news:news.group.name. Be sure to set the
environment variable NNTPSERVER to point to your news
server first.

I'll tell you why you need off line newsreaders. Some of us use modems
(14400/V42bis) collect 90 or so news items a day. No problem if you get free
local telephone calls but in the UK we don't. Now I don't know how long it
takes you to read 90 news items from 4 different newsgroups but I don't
want the phone bill for the 30 mins at peak rate charges it takes me.
